The personnel section is responsible for policy research, development, and implementation; contract negotiations, disciplinary actions and grievances. The Personnel Administrator also represents the Department of Public Works in various forums regarding legal or contract related workplace matters.

The Payroll Section is responsible for the timely processing of payroll data for the Department. This section is also responsible for mass rate changes, pay adjustments and the custody and processing of various personnel and medical documents.

The Safety Section's role is to provide safety training, enforcement of the safety rules and guidance to DPW employees, supervisors and management. Safety Specialists also conduct site visits, investigate accidents and help facilitate injured workers back to work.
