Sewer Maintenance
EMERGENCY SERVICES or services that require immediate attention (such as lost keys, missing manhole
covers, hazardous spills, or connection checks) should be called in to the DPW CallCenter at (414)
286-8282. An operator is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to take emergency calls for service.
Service requests relating to clogged catch basins, loose manhole covers, surface flooding, and other sewer maintenance services
can be made online at the DPW Service Request Center.
DPW will handle all requests relating to the following:
- Backwater - Water in basement from floor drain.
- Cave-In - Depressions or voids related to sewer structures (manholes, catch basins or
storm inlets leaning or falling in).
- Clogged Catch Basin/Surface Flooding - Catch basins that are clogged and storm inlets
flooded during rain or water main breaks.
- Damages - Report of damage to sewer pipe, manholes, catch basins, strom inlets or any
sewer maintenance construction site.
- Loose Lid - Manhole lid or catch basin grate is noisy or ajar.
- Miscellaneous - Debris, weeds, trees or erosion in drainage channels, etc.
- Missing Lid or Grate - Manhole lid or catch basin grate is missing causing a
hazard.
- Sewer Odor - Sewer odor coming
from house drains or catch basins.
- Spill - Gasoline, oil, diesel fuel or chemical spill in roadway, waterway or private
property.
